Our Impact
Las Misiones is dedicated to preserving the historic integrity and beauty of the four Spanish Colonial mission churches in San Antonio: Mission Concepción, Mission San José, Mission San Juan, and Mission San Francisco de la Espada. Through your contributions, grants, and gifts, we ensure the enduring care and maintenance of these sacred spaces.
Since the mission churches are located within the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, many people assume that the National Park Service (NPS) maintains them.
In fact, NPS only maintains the secular structures within the park.
Las Misiones is responsible for maintaining the religious structures, including the mission churches.
0In 2015 Las Misiones developed a 10 year plan of yearly maintenance and significant repairs that is annually updated. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, in 2020 Las Misiones invested over one million dollars to stabilize the dome of Mission Concepción, preventing a potential collapse. In 2023 more than one million dollars was allocated to repair and replace the roof at Mission San Jose, safeguarding the structure from further water damage.
Currently Las Misiones is funding approximately one million dollars in façade and bell tower restoration at Mission Concepción. In addition to special projects, each year we spend between $260,000 – $290,000 on essential maintenance across the missions. Through these efforts, Las Misiones ensures that these treasured churches continue to inspire faith and serve the community for generations to come.
